🔗 Share this article Let's Crown the Greatest Game of the Console Generation: Semi-Finals The past two days have been nothing short of dramatic. On Monday, we marked the five-year anniversary of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X with a competition to determine the best first-party game of this console generation. You were given eight PlayStation 5 titles and eight Xbox Series X games to compete against each other, culminating in a championship round where the top game from each platform would battle it out. There have been some incredibly close calls in the first two rounds, especially the extremely tight polls from the previous day. At this point, it's moment to decide the best PS5 and Xbox Series X games before the championship on Thursday. The PS5 Side For PlayStation 5, we have the giant-slayer, Astro Bot. Maybe it should be no surprise given that it took home the top prize at last year’s Game Awards, but its victory over God of War Ragnarök feels like a true upset. But to get to the finals, it'll need to defeat the most valuable player of the PlayStation 5 era: the acclaimed developer. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 enjoyed an easy journey to the semi-finals, defeating Ghost of Yōtei and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (another title from the same studio!) to land in the final four. Will Spider-Man defeat a home-grown Sony mascot, or is he destined to become a miniature appearance in the next Astro Bot game? Xbox Series X Contenders For Xbox Series X has been more exciting. Emerging victorious from a more eclectic field of contenders is Forza Horizon 5. It's a significant win for the open-world driving game already, demonstrating that a more specialized genre game deserves to be on the same pedestal as classic platformers and cinematic action-adventure games. Its last roadblock on the way to the finals is a big one, though. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has shown itself as a fan favorite, defeating acclaimed titles like Pentiment and Hi-Fi Rush. Can it beat a larger-scale title from an well-known franchise that's synonymous with Xbox itself? If anyone can pull that off, it's probably Indy. Cast your votes to determine the top PlayStation and Xbox titles of this generation, and return on the next day to see who will be competing for the grand prize in the championship round!
